In partnership with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, we provide free, high-quality books delivered monthly to children from birth to age five, promoting early literacy and family engagement in reading. We currently sponsor around 1000 children in Wells County every month.
The Imagination Library, created by Dolly Parton in 1995 for her hometown of Sevier County, Tennessee, is dedicated to fostering a love of reading and imagination in children. Inspired by her vision for every preschool child to have their own collection of books, the program quickly gained national recognition and expanded to communities willing to support it.
Children enrolled in the program receive a free, age-appropriate book each month from birth until their fifth birthday. Families with preschool-aged children who live in Wells County can register at any time, and those moving into the county are welcome to join. Each participating child in a family will receive their own set of books. If a family moves out of Wells County, they will exit the program at that time.
If your child is under the age of 5 and lives in Wells County, they are eligible for this amazing program! You can register by completing a form at any Wells County public library or signing up online. Your child’s first book will arrive within 8 to 10 weeks. For any questions, contact United Way of Wells County at 260-824-5589.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free gift to children in Wells County. The only requirement? Take time to read with your child and nurture their imagination! If you live outside Wells County, visit the Imagination Library website to find a program near you.
